Warrior Covert QR6 Pro Review

This season Warrior added the all new QR6 Pro to their iconic Covert stick line. At $399.99 CAD this is a premium hockey stick. Graphically the stick looks incredible with a stealthy smoked out shaft and subtle oil slick chrome accents. The stick feels incredible with the angular QR Edge Taper and the all new lightweight, balanced P.L. 188 construction. We wanted to confirm how it performs, so we hooked up Tyler, one of our staff members and member of the Clearwater Icehawks U18 Team with a brand new twig so he could give us some intel.

First impressions

Thoughts on the graphic?


The Graphics are really cool, at first glance the stick looks blacked out. But with closer inspection you will realize that when the light hits it at a different angle it reveals an oil slick pattern with colors ranging from green, purple, yellow, and blue!

Do you like the feel in your hands?

I love the way this stick feels! It’s crazy light and feels almost like nothings there while at the same time not being too light, I have used sticks in the past that feel too light and this sits just right on the scale. The edges of the shaft are comfortably rounded off similar to Bauers Vapor line. The stick is so well balanced that when you put your finger in the middle the weight distribution is so perfect it doesn't teeter at all.

How did the stick feel shooting?

When shooting I immediately noticed the pop that it has. It has the fastest release of any stick I have used and it feels so snappy like the puck is slingshotted off your blade the second you think about shooting. This makes it perfect for shooting in tight and around defencemen. You can be so in close to the net that you don’t think you could get a shot off and the puck just rips off the blade. This also really favours toe drag shots while a defenceman is in front of you. Not to mention the insane accuracy it has, it’s like having a rifle on the ice wherever you look the puck is going! It’s also great at range despite being designed with a low kick point for snap shots and wrist shots, it has a surprising amount of power and feel from farther out whether is a wrist shot from the tops of the circles or a slap-shot from the blue line it still provides plenty of pop and power at range thanks to the new and improved taper!

How did the stick feel giving and receiving passes?

Even passing you notice the low kick point aiding in your play. It feels like you could receive an egg with it, the low kick eats up the shock from harder passes! This stick is by far my favourite stick for giving passes, every pass you make you feel the blade fling the puck off with great accuracy.

How did the stick feel handling the puck/stick handling?

Thanks to the weight and float of the stick it makes handling the puck so smooth and light. The blade construction allows for so much feel of the puck on the blade that you never have to look down to see if you're still carrying it because you can feel exactly where the puck is on your blade!

Final Thoughts

What part of your game does the stick feel it made the most positive
difference?

I think it improved every aspect of my game! I feel like I can shoot from anywhere on the ice with insane accuracy and power. When you’re using this stick you feel so connected with the puck that it almost feels like it’s apart of you, you know exactly where it is on the blade and what it’s doing, this makes passing significantly more accurate and gives stick handling a whole new feel. The pop of the stick helps with shooting while moving, you can be in stride going full speed and rip a shot off taking the goalie by complete surprise.

What type of player would you recommend this stick to?


I would recommend this stick mainly to any forward who needs a new stick as the low kick point is tailored for the in tight quick release snap shots, but it still performs great from further out making it a viable option for defenders.
